Female header, a type of connector.
Application: This type of connector is widely used in PCB circuit boards in electronics, electrical appliances, and instruments.
Function: Its function is to serve as a bridge between blocked sections within a circuit or between isolated and disconnected circuits, undertaking the task of transmitting current or signals. It is usually used in conjunction with female headers to form board-to-board connections; or used in conjunction with the ends of electronic wire harnesses to form board-to-wire connections; it can also be used independently for board-to-board connections.
Classification:
Since the specifications used by different electronic products are not exactly the same, female headers also come in many models. According to the standard female header product classification of FKMCONN: by pitch, they can be roughly divided into five categories: 2.54mm, 2.00mm, 1.27mm, 1.00mm, and 0.8mm (other special pitches can also be customized as needed); by number of rows, there are single-row female headers, double-row female headers, triple-row female headers, etc.; by packaging usage, there are SMT surface mount, DIP through-hole (straight/right-angle), etc.; at the same time, to match the corresponding pin headers, female headers with different plastic heights can be customized.
Classification
1. Female headers are divided by pitch: 0.8, 1.0, 1.27, 2.0, and 2.54 pitch.
2. Female headers are divided by plastic height and whether they have bumps; bumps are divided into half bumps and full bumps.
3. Divided by the number of rows of pin headers: single-row, double-row, 3-row, 4-row, etc.; currently the maximum is only 4 rows.
4. Divided by installation method: 180 degrees is represented by S, 90 degrees by W, and SMT by T.
5. Divided by whether height increase is needed and whether positioning posts are needed; there are 2 types of positioning posts, one is an inner positioning post, and the other is an ear positioning post.
Female header terminal types: U terminals and Y terminals
U-shaped terminals have 3 contact surfaces; generally, those with low plastic height use U-shaped terminals
Y-shaped terminals have 2 contact surfaces; generally, those with high plastic height use Y-shaped terminals [1]
3-row female header inspection items:
1. The overall height of the pin header and female header. (Vernier caliper)
2. The pin width of the female header. (Visual inspection)
3. Whether the connection between the pin header and the female header is tight.
Note: Please insert and remove the pin header and female header slowly. Especially when removing the pin header, try to ensure that both ends of the pin header can come out at the same time to avoid damaging the pins.
